“Cedar Cottage is a secret sanctuary on the shores of Loch Fyne. Leave the modern world in your rearview mirror.”
Jenny Gilmour, Love Argyll
Cedar Cottage
Your Cedar Cottage stay begins down a winding forest track, a portal that transports you from the everyday into the wild heart of Argyll. Tucked away in a historic clachan of seven dwellings, this 200-year-old cottage was once the bustling home of herring fishermen. Today, it stands as a sanctuary of silence, sandwiched between the whispering canopy of the Leacann (Argyll) Forest and the shimmering expanse of Loch Fyne.
Cedar Cottage is a true "off-the-beaten-track" retreat, offering a rare kind of seclusion where the only schedule is the rising tide. Inside, the cottage balances its heritage charm with cozy comfort. After a day spent on the water or exploring the forest, fire up the wood burner and watch the flames dance.
The cottage is a stargazer’s paradise. On clear nights, step outside to witness the Milky Way arcing over the loch in a display you simply cannot see in the city.
Cedar Cottage is ideally suited for:
- The Adventurous: With Loch Fyne on your doorstep and the forest at your back, this is a playground for wild swimmers, kayakers, anglers, and hikers.
- Dark Sky Chasers: Make use of our telescope; the darkness here is velvety and deep.
- Dog Lovers: Your four-legged companions are welcome to roam the tracks and trails by your side.
Access to the cottage is via a three mile forestry track that sets the stage for a true retreat-style getaway! We recommend a vehicle with high clearance or an SUV to best enjoy the experience.
