"Located 10 miles south of Inveraray and overlooking Loch Fyne, Cherry Trees is a beautifully appointed 1920s cottage sleeping 6. We love the seafaring memorabilia, conservatory and spacious private garden"

Cherry Trees Cottage

Cherry Trees Cottage lies just south of Argyll’s historic town of Inveraray, near the village of Furnace and enjoys stunning views of Loch Fyne, Britain’s longest sea loch, from its elevated position.
This 1920s, 3-bed cottage, sleeps 6 and has an idyllic setting amidst woodlands on the hillside above Loch Fyne. It’s beautiful and enclosed garden is spacious and private. With a tree-slung swing, the garden is accessed via a bridge over the small burn (stream) that runs off the hills; perfect for al-fresco dining at the picnic table and benches.
Beautifully decorated and furnished, the heart of Cherry Trees Cottage is its cosy lounge with open coal or wood burning fire. Delightful touches include a star-gazing telescope, thistle wallpaper from Timorous Beasties and a wonderful conservatory or ‘sitterooterie’; the perfect family space for relaxing. The nautical theme throughout the cottage is a nod to the former owner, a merchant seaman.
The master bedroom boasts a luxury en-suite and mezzanine level sleeping area for a child. The other two bedrooms are a twin room, plus, the ‘Fyne View’ room, which boasts perfect views and allows you to watch the sunrise from the comfort of a luxury four poster double bed. The dining kitchen at Cherry Trees Cottage is spacious and welcoming, as well as being brilliantly equipped.
Cherry Trees is perfectly located for touring Argyll and its stunning coastline and is just a 12 minute drive from Inveraray town, with its restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops. And just a 10-minute drive towards Lochgilphead is the Ardcastle Forestry trail (for walking and cycling) through the Kilmichael Forest, where you’ll encounter the ancient and atmospheric ruins of St Bride’s Chapel amongst the trees. Also nearby is the stunning Crarae Garden, run by the National Trust for Scotland, where you can wander its many paths taking in the waterfalls and exotic flora and fauna including Himalayan plants and 100 year old Eucalyptus trees.
We’ve created day trip itineraries for the nearby Blue Cottage at Loch Awe, and these are all easily adaptable for trips from No9, Inveraray
For gourmets, there’s an abundance of choice locally from Inveraray’s characterful George Hotel and acclaimed Samphire Seafood Restaurant to the nearby Loch Fyne Oyster Bar and, further down the other side of the loch, the award-wining Inver Restaurant (rated 33 in the UK’s top-50 restaurants) overlooking Strathlachlan Castle.
Lovers of outdoor pursuits are spoilt for choice in Argyll. From your base at Cherry Trees Cottage, you are a short drive to horse riding at Argyll Adventures and access to abundant forest trails to walk or cycle such as Glen Nant National Nature Reserve and Achnabreac Forest. And there’s watersports a plenty from wild-swimming to sea-kayaking, paddleboarding and the exhilarating Seafari excursions from nearby Easdale and Oban. You can also indulge in horse-riding, fishing at Loch Awe (home of Britain’s record Brown Trout) and golf at nearby golf courses at Inveraray, Dalmally and Lochgilphead.
And by arrangement we can provide golf clubs, bicycles and fishing gear to help you make the most of your break.
